Top Gambler’s Review and Rating:

The Bellagio is the premier MGM property in Las Vegas with the exception of the Manion and Skylofts in the MGM Grand.  Bellagio was originally developed by Steve Wynn and sold to MGM.  This property is known for its fountains out front, Dale Chihuly ceiling in the Lobby, and the museum of of fine art.

The casino is your typical MGM Las Vegas Casino in that it has different gaming areas with different rules depending on the size of your bet.  There is one blackjack pit that has fair odds -- 3:2 blackjacks and not hitting on soft 17.  It is located near the players club and across from the craps tables.  This is where you must play.  During the day you can find a $50 table in this area, but in the evening it is a minimum of $100.  There are only a few 6 deck shoes with not hitting on soft 17, so look carefully.

The pai gow poker tables are located near the Asian noodle and dim sum restaurant.  The best feature of pai gow poker at the Bellagio when we were last there, is that you can do a "group bank."  Which means everyone at the table can participate in a single banking hand.  This means no one is left out of bank hands and you do not need to go against the player banking.  You are betting with the player banking.  Lots of fun!

There are two high limit areas.  The baccarat room and the Club Prive.  There are two blackjack tables in the baccarat room, and I usually play there.  It is much less crowed, but it can get smoky from the baccarat tables.  Check them out (if open).  Usually it is a $100 minimum bet.  Club Prive is a great place to play, but during the day the minimum bet may dip to $100, but during the evening it is usually $300 or $500.  Some tables get up to $1000 or more minimums.  Good rules in there.

They do a nice job of having at least one craps table with a larger minimum bet ($25 or $50) if you want to get away from the riff raff.  They have the small-tall-all feature bet, which can be fun.  I am partial to the craps tables at the Bellagio, because I had a great series of rolls there and made a ton of money.  Hit the All two and half times on a single roll.

The Player's Club is MLife, which we love.  It is like having your money in bank that has ATMs located everywhere.  MGM casinos are all over the country, and you accrue points at all the properties.  You can also use points at any property.  So you can stay at the Bellagio and get comped at a restaurant in the Aria.  Excellent program.

Unfortunately, we have had real problems with the dealers at the Bellagio.  Some have been there so long, they feel they don't have to make an effort at good customer service.  My expectation is that when I am getting killed at a table that the dealer give me a little wince or head shake, recognizing that I am getting killed and they feel sorry for me.  There is nothing worse than a dealer that robotically takes my money when I am losing and does not interact with me at all.  I have had to frequently leave tables at the Bellagio when one of the dealers I hate takes over.  It should not be this way at such a high end property.
