Top Gambler’s Review and Rating:

The MGM Grand is the second largest hotel in the world.  That pretty much says it all. It is big.  It is crowded.  It is also a favorite of mine.

Admittedly, when I stay at the MGM Grand I stay at the Mansion, which is a completely different experience.  But the casino is the same.  It doesn't feel like there is a big gaming area.  There are different areas, but for a hotel this size, it seems like the gaming area should be bigger.  There is only one area where you should play, and that is the area by the high limit slots.  Those tables have the most player-friendly rules.  This coincides with a higher minimum bet, but you cannot accept 6:5 blackjack elsewhere.  So this really shrinks the casino to this area and the High Limit Room.  There you can find tables with surrender and dealer staying on soft 17.  My only exception to staying in this area is if I want to play Ultimate Texas Hold'em, which requires me to venture out into the other parts of the casino.  Sometimes I cannot take it, and I have them open a table for me elsewhere.  Given how much I bet, they are very accommodating.

The High Limit Room could be better (despite a recent renovation).  There are only a couple of 6 deck blackjack tables that are ready for play.  There is a two deck table.  All the other tables are typically reserved.  Sometimes there are two additional tables open in the baccarat area, but not always.  There is no craps table or pai gow poker table in the High Limit Area.  What we love about the area are the size of the chips. They are bigger and heavier.  It sounds silly, but it makes it hard to play elsewhere when you are used to these chips.

The dealers are almost always nice, but the pit bosses are hit or miss.  Some are fantastic, and others are clearly your enemy.  I have had to fight for high average bet scores.  Always ask how they rated you, and complain for a higher rating.

The Player's Club Program is the MLife Program, which is among the best.  You can accrue points at casinos throughout the country and use them at MGM Grand.  My experience with the hosts have been fantastic.
